Aksum Manuscript

The treasure of the Cathedral of Aksum was lost during the 16th century wars there are as a consequence very few ancient objects at the cathedral. There are however three incomplete illustrated 15th century manuscripts: The Acts of Martyrs with ten top quality illustrations, Book of Mysteries with abstract décor and Books of the Small Prophets with Stephanite illustrations. The three bindings are spoilt, the pages of the three manuscripts are mixed and some badly damaged.

Further Manuscript conservation
There are 2 other manuscripts at little known churches. Ura masquele contains an important 15 century psalter and Debre Tserabi a manuscript both in need of conservation.

Weyzazirt
Just off the road from lake Tana to Addis there is a church which has one of the best examples of First Gondarine wall paintings (17th century). These are in need of cleaning and consolidating.
